POSIITION PURPOSE : Assists with the administration of the Company’s associate benefits programs including medical, dental, vision, life and disability and associate assistance programs. Works with benefit vendors to ensure proper plan administration and data file accuracy. Partners with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate benefit communications and address escalated associate benefit issues.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Responds to and resolves escalated benefits matters via telephone, email, HR Shared Services Support Center, or face-to-face interactions.

  • Serves as liaison between associate, insurance carrier and/or vendors to ensure quick, equitable, and courteous resolution.

  • Run reporting out of various in-house and vendor reporting systems as requested.

  • Intermediate Excel Skills required to manipulate data pulled from various sources to meet reporting needs

  • Assists in the on-going development and improvement of benefits policies and procedures

  • Ability to review and comprehend applicable state and federal laws and labor agreements surrounding benefits.

  • Makes recommendations for process improvement to continuously improve efficiency and customer service.

  • Monitors benefit elections through queries and reports to ensure accuracy based on plan types and eligibility in compliance with applicable regulations and guidelines.

  • Processes Work Day enrollments, terminations and status changes for all health and welfare programs.

  • Develops and maintains relationships with vendor contacts.

  • Works with vendors on transmission of data integration feeds between HRIS and vendors; identify and corrects discrepancies.

  • Assist with planning and execution of the organization-wide annual benefits open enrollment.

  • Assist team in ensuring accuracy of all written and electronic plan communication material

  • Works with internal departments (e.g., IT, recruiting, payroll, etc.) on benefits related issues.

  • Oversee leave of absence benefit premium billing process and ensure correct benefit premiums are billed and paid timely.

  • Process any manual benefit payroll adjustments prior to payroll close each week.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE :

  • At least 3 years related employer sponsored benefit administration experience

PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Workday experience

  • Experience administering benefit plans in a 1,000+ associate-based company preferred

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Strong Proficiency Microsoft Office products

Ability to communicate in writing with appropriate grammar and punctuation to correspond through emails and basic benefit communications.

Ability to speak effectively telephonically and in person with all levels of the organization in various settings.

Ability to read an interpret documents such as policies and summary plan descriptions

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all unites of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and to create and interpret graphs.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Ability to make day to day decisions used to support strategic direction. Based on existing practices with broad guidance and overall direction provided by Lead Specialist and manager.
